Exhibition at Château du Plessis Fortia, 2014.

In 2014, Monique Barbier Mueller gave Gilles Barbier carte blanche to think up an exhibition at her château in Plessis Fortia. A few months later, when the first guests step through the door, they think they’ll find an orgiastic welcome buffet and look for the exhibition. But hanging sheep carcasses and billots overflowing with meat and delicatessen, intriguing pawns and series of severed hands, reading cabinets overgrown with vegetation indicate that the former Fortia home has become an immense vanity where wealth, power and knowledge are sifted through the sieve of memento mori.
